Summoned to the vehicle inspection (MFK) and no time? How the inspection goes ahead without you
The summons to the periodic vehicle inspection (MFK, Motorfahrzeugkontrolle) rarely comes at a good time. But you do not have to go yourself: with the inspection escort a driver collects your car, presents it at the inspection centre, waits during the inspection and brings it back.
Do I have to attend the inspection myself?
No. The vehicle has to be presented, not you. The driver takes the car together with the vehicle registration document and the summons, stays on site during the inspection and brings you the inspection report afterwards.
What should I prepare?
Prepare the following before pick-up so that the inspection does not fail over small things:
- Have the vehicle registration document and the summons ready.
- Hand over the car clean, inside and out.
- If your garage prepares the car beforehand, book that appointment early enough.
What does the inspection escort cost?
The inspection escort (MFK) costs CHF 139 if the inspection centre is up to 10 km from the pick-up address. The drive there, up to 60 minutes of waiting at the inspection centre and the drive back are included. Up to 20 km adds CHF 40 per ride, up to 35 km CHF 80. All prices exclude VAT and the inspection fee.
