Scratch before or after? How to read the handover report

After every ride you receive two reports as PDFs: one from pick-up and one from handover. Put them side by side and you can see what condition the car set off in, what condition it arrived in and what changed in between.

What is in the pick-up report?

The first PDF records the car's condition before the driver sets off:

  1. Header: vehicle, pick-up address and destination, start and completion with the time, the location.
  2. Mileage and fuel level, confirmed by the driver at the dashboard.
  3. Findings: every scratch, every dent and any glass or wheel damage, each with a number.
  4. Photos: at least 10, all round the car, all four wheels, interior and dashboard. The numbers on the photos refer to the findings.
  5. Your signature: it confirms the handover to the driver and the documented condition.

How can I tell whether damage is new?

In the handover report every finding carries one of two labels: "Documented at pick-up" or "New". The report also states how many confirmed differences from pick-up there are. A scratch labelled "New" could not be seen on the pick-up photos. If in doubt, compare the two photos of the same spot: each PDF has its own.

What do the frames on the photos and the note about AI mean?

A solid frame with a number is a finding that the driver confirmed, corrected or recorded at the vehicle. A dashed frame marked AI is a suggestion from an artificial intelligence, which the driver can call on as an aid. The report keeps the two apart. The original photos and the driver's decision are what count. The AI is not an expert assessment.

What does "Condition not assessable" mean?

At night, in rain or when the car is very dirty, the paintwork cannot be assessed reliably. The report then carries this note, with the reason. For the areas concerned it proves neither that there was damage nor that there was none. It is best to hand over the car clean and in daylight.

What should I do if I see new damage?

Tell the driver at handover, before you sign: the spot is added to the report with a close-up photo. If you only notice it later, photograph the spot and contact us on WhatsApp or by phone. The two reports show whether the damage happened between pick-up and handover. The report documents the car's condition and says nothing about insurance or liability.

What does it cost?

The report is part of every ride. One ride costs CHF 69 if pick-up and destination are up to 10 km apart. Up to 20 km it is CHF 40 more, up to 35 km CHF 80 more. For longer distances a per-kilometre rate applies, shown by the calculator. All prices exclude VAT.
